Do you want to be a part of a vibrant and creative collective of artists from western Massachusetts and Vermont. The Shelburne Arts Cooperative has been in operation since 1998. We are member owned and operated. Our members meet the first Tuesday of each month to coordinate and manage the gallery’s operation. Members are encouraged to attend our monthly meetings where planning, updates and jurying are discussed. Consignors, members who do not work in the Co-op, are also welcome to participate in monthly meeting discussions, but do not have the right to vote.
Working members run the gallery on a day-to-day basis. Working members receive 70% of the sale of their work and are responsible for working 12 hours a month in the gallery and/or on various tasks and committees. Consignors receive 50% of the sale of their work. Annual dues for working members are $50. Annual dues for consignors are $80. Working members and consignors must live within 50 miles of Shelburne Falls, MA. Working members and consignors tag their work and are responsible for keeping track of their inventory in the gallery.
If you are interested in joining our Cooperative, please email at least 5 images representative of your work to email@example.com. In your email, include an overall description of you and your work and the retail price and description for each image you submit. If you are submitting framed art, please describe your framing technique. Also indicate whether you want to be a working member or a consignor. Include your web address if you have a website. If you do not have access to an email account, please call (someone’s number Sally Chaffee at 413-253-0503 to make alternative arrangements”
If we feel your work will be a good fit for our Co-op, you will be invited to submit at least 5 pieces of your work for jurying. However, an invitation to be juried is not a guarantee your work will be accepted. Jurying takes place at our monthly meetings the first Tuesday of each month. When you drop off the pieces at the Co-op, you will also complete a jury form. There is a $5 jury fee to cover administrative costs. If you are not accepted, we ask that your work be picked up within 7 days of the date your work was juried. If your work is not picked up within 30 days, it becomes the property of the Co-op, to dispose of as it wishes.
